Durgamati: The Myth

DURGAMATI is the story of an imprisoned IAS officer interrogated in a haunted house. One state of India is witness to many loots of prized idols from various temples. Ishwar Prasad (Arshad Warsi), a minister in the ruling party, wins the hearts of the people, claiming that if the government fails to bring back the idols within 15 days, he will leave politics forever. Members of his party are stunned by his promise. They decide to bring him down by implicating him in a corruption case. CBI officer Satakshi Ganguly (Mahi Gill) is tasked. She seeks local help from Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhay Singh (Jishu Sengupta). As part of his operation, an IAS officer working for close to a decade decides to interrogate Chanchal Chauhan (Bhumi Pednekar). Interestingly, she is serving a jail sentence for the murder of her fiance, Shakti (Karan Kapadia). Also, Shakti was Abhay's brother and needless to say that later Chanchal did not forgive for his act. Chanchal's interrogation is considered a top-secret operation. Therefore, it cannot be done in jail or anywhere else. Therefore, Abhay decides to move her to an inaccessible place - Durgamati Haveli. The junior officers, who are also a part of the operation, get frightened as they hear that the mansion is ghostly. They tell Abhay and Sonakshi to shift Chanchal elsewhere. However, both officers refuse to believe in spirits. The interrogation begins and Satakshi fails to get any reliable information from Chanchal that can help her nail God. Agile maintains that he is a clean image person and is far from corrupt. At night, officers stationed at the site retreat from their hub while Chanchal is asked to be alone in the bungalow. This is when terrible things start happening inside. Chanchal complained but the police were not allowed inside to help him. Investigations continue during the day while at night, Chanchal is attacked by a ghost. A few days later, Rani Durgamati's soul finally takes control of Chanchal. At first, Satakshi and other officials admit that she is thwarting it to avoid questioning. However, he soon realized that some things could happen beyond the grasp of science. What happens next is the rest of the film.
